What is a Juz?

A juz is a section of the Quran that contains a number of surahs. The surahs of the Quran can be in the same or different juz. There are thirty juz in the Quran.

What is an ayah or verse?

An ayah is a verse of the Quran that is indicated by a number at the end of it. For example, if the number 5 comes after a verse, it means that that ayah is the 5th ayah of the surah.

Should new Muslims learn to read the Quran?

The pleasure one takes by reciting the Quran in Arabic is incomparable to simply reading the translation. To explain, when one reads the Quran in Arabic, one is reading the exact words of God that He revealed to Prophet Muhammad in the letter. Moreover, the reward that one receives from reciting the Noble Quran in Arabic is enormous and much more than reading its translation. Therefore, it is highly recommended that new Muslims also learn how to read the Quran.
